Darien is a multi-faceted jewel situated on the shore of Long Island Sound, just east of Stamford. The town’s coastal area is renowned for several beautiful beaches. Inland, suburban town parks and private clubs lend to the picturesque local setting. Altogether, the shoreline, the countryside, and the easy commuting put Darien on the preferred list for people who work in the metropolitan area. First settled in 1641, Darien was a busy port through the 1800’s. Sloops carried produce between New York and Boston. Many original picturesque homes of this later historical period remain.
