With a shoreline on Long Island Sound and a vast area extending inland, Westport combines the best of coastal and rustic woodland scenery. Beyond that, the town defies easy categorization.

During the 1920's, Westport was adopted by many artist and writers as a peaceful haven for creative inspiration. THis tradition continues today. People in high powered fields such as publishing, advertising, and the arts delight in calling Westport their hometown. There are also many other diversified businesses, yet the towns character is decidedly low profile; no dazzle ostentation, just distinctly aesthetic appearance and a certain polish to its citizenry.

Town residents are comprised of commuters who work in Manhattan, Westchester, or Fairfield Counties as well as those engaged in local pursuits. Downtown is a hub of nationally known specialty shops, and boutiques which draw a sophisticated and affluent clientele. In the greater Westport area, there are several other shopping centers, corporate headquarters and numerous service industries.

The ultimate power in any tally of Westport's is that it is a perfect place to live with superb cultural, educational, and residential facilities. The variety of residences testifies to private and privileged living. A range of home designs can be had from classic, historic home on a tree lined street to a modern contemporary set on wooded terraced acreage.
